Rotate & Flip Image

Rotate any photo left, right, or 180°, and mirror it horizontally or vertically with a live preview. Works on JPG, PNG, WebP, and HEIC right in your browser — nothing uploaded, full quality kept.

Rotating and flipping happens in your browser — your image is never uploaded. The result is redrawn at full resolution, so no quality is lost. Re-encoding strips EXIF/location metadata.

Understanding the Rotate & Flip Image

Rotate & Flip Image is a free, fully in-browser tool for fixing the orientation of any photo. Upload a JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, or HEIC file and turn it left 90°, right 90°, or a full 180° with one tap. You can also mirror the picture horizontally (perfect for selfies that came out reversed) or vertically. Every change shows instantly in a live preview, and the buttons stack so you can combine rotations and flips freely. Nothing is uploaded — all processing happens on your device using the Canvas API, so your image stays private and the result is exported at full original resolution.

How it works

Drop an image onto the upload box or click to browse; HEIC photos from iPhones are decoded automatically. Tap Rotate left, Rotate right, or Rotate 180° to turn the image in 90° steps, and use Flip H or Flip V to mirror it. The preview updates live as you stack changes, and a readout shows the current rotation and flip state. Pick an output format (keep original, or force JPG, PNG, or WebP) and, for lossy formats, set a quality level. Press Apply & Export to redraw the image onto a correctly sized canvas — width and height swap automatically for 90° and 270° turns — then download the finished file. Use Reset to start over.

Worked example

You snap a vertical photo on your phone, but it opens sideways on your laptop. Upload it, tap Rotate right once, and the preview snaps upright. Notice it's also mirrored, so you tap Flip H to correct it. The dimensions readout swaps from 4032×3024 to 3024×4032. Choose Keep original, hit Apply & Export, and download a perfectly oriented full-resolution copy in seconds.

Tips & common mistakes

  • Rotation buttons stack — tap Rotate right twice for a quick 180° turn instead of guessing.
  • Use Flip horizontal to un-mirror selfies so text and faces read the right way around.
  • Choose PNG or WebP output to keep the result completely lossless; JPG lets you trade size for quality with the slider.
  • HEIC photos from iPhones are supported and converted automatically, so you don't need a separate step.
  • The Reset button clears all rotations and flips at once if you want to start fresh.
  • Re-exporting strips EXIF and location metadata, which is a handy privacy bonus before sharing a photo.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I rotate by 90 degrees?

Yes. You can rotate left 90°, right 90°, or a full 180°. The buttons stack, so tapping rotate right twice turns the image 180°, and the live preview updates instantly.

Can it mirror or flip an image?

Yes. Flip horizontal mirrors the image left-to-right (great for selfies), and flip vertical mirrors it top-to-bottom. You can combine flips with any rotation.

Does rotating lose quality?

No. The tool redraws your image to a fresh canvas at full resolution, so the rotated or flipped result keeps the original detail. Exporting as PNG or WebP is lossless; JPG uses your chosen quality.
