The Lorem Ipsum Generator creates clean placeholder (filler) text for mockups, wireframes, page layouts, and design comps. Choose how much you need — paragraphs, sentences, or individual words — and generate it instantly. It's built for designers, developers, writers, and marketers who need realistic-looking copy to fill a template before the real content arrives. You can keep the familiar 'Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…' opening or switch it off for fully randomized Latin-style words, then copy the result to your clipboard or download it as a .txt file. Everything runs entirely in your browser — nothing you generate is uploaded, logged, or stored on any server.
How it works
The tool draws from a fixed bank of classic lorem ipsum words. To build a sentence it picks 6–14 random words, capitalizes the first, occasionally inserts a comma for natural rhythm, and ends with a period. A paragraph strings together 3–6 such sentences. When you choose 'Words', it emits exactly N space-separated words. If 'Start with Lorem ipsum' is enabled, the first sentence opens with the canonical 'Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit' before continuing with random words. After generating, it counts paragraphs, words, and characters, and the Copy and Download buttons use the browser's clipboard and a temporary object URL.
Worked example
Set the unit to Paragraphs, enter 2, and leave the Lorem ipsum toggle on. Click Generate and you get two blocks separated by a blank line. The first begins exactly with 'Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor…' and the second is fully randomized, e.g. 'Voluptatem accusantium doloremque laudantium, totam rem aperiam…'. The counter below might read 2 paragraphs, 84 words, 561 characters. Click Copy text to paste it into your design, or Download .txt to save it as lorem-ipsum.txt.
Tips & common mistakes
- Pick the unit that matches your space: Words for a short label or button, Sentences for a caption, Paragraphs for body copy.
- Turn off 'Start with Lorem ipsum' when you need several blocks that shouldn't all begin with the same recognizable phrase.
- Generate again to reshuffle — each click produces fresh random text, so regenerate until the length looks right in your layout.
- Use Download .txt when you need the filler in an external editor or to import into a CMS, and Copy text for quick pasting.
- Remember this is meaningless Latin-style filler — never ship it to production, as leftover lorem ipsum in a live page is a common, embarrassable mistake.
- Counts are slightly approximate for very large requests because word and sentence lengths are randomized; generate a bit more than you think you need and trim.
